Experience Double Trouble live and expect to be taken back in time for a full retrospective of Elvis Presley's career. Paul Ross and Marcus Wells will offer you a comprehensive and exciting full-production show.
Elvis entertainers and long-time friends Paul Ross and Marcus Wells teamed up in the fall of 2003 to put together an exciting and moving show. After forming a band to back them up in style, Paul and Marcus concentrated on one thing only: authenticity. Being giant Elvis fans themselves, Paul and Marcus had seen hundreds of Elvis-artist shows and wanted to do something so few had done before: a very faithful sound and sight recreation that would be almost as exciting as Elvis' own shows were.
Working tirelessly with the band to faithfully replicate the original sound of Elvis' music, Paul and Marcus
carefully chose a collection of songs that would be sure to delight both seasoned Elvis fans and music lovers alike. With exact replicas of Elvis stage and movie costumes to on-stage banter, moves, hair and makeup, jewellery and all the small details in between, Paul and Marcus spare no effort in recreating with exacting accuracy the magic of Elvis' performances.
But what matters most when the lights go down and the audience is ready to suspend disbelief and relive Elvis' years?
The voice, of course. Both Paul and Marcus were blessed with voices that are uncannily close to Elvis' own. Audiences have been overheard time and again, saying that with this vocal closeness, it is particularly easy to close your eyes and feel that you are really there, whether there is a small theatre in Louisiana in the 50s, a sumptuous Vegas show room or a giant arena in the Mid-West.
Please join us as we take you through the show...
As the lights dim, your heart will start beating faster to the strains of "Shake, Rattle and Roll" as Paul recreates for you all the excitement of Elvis' early years. Resplendant in the gold lamé suit, Paul will have you singing and dancing along before you know it.
Marcus then takes the stage to present a fun and light-hearted set focused on Elvis' movie songs... From the grooviness of "Rubberneckin" to the frenzy of "Viva Las Vegas", Marcus will remind you why those Elvis movies of the 60s are still so watchable and as adored now as they were then. And because Elvis ALWAYS got the girl, you may even see some romance on stage...
Paul will then lead you into an "up close and personal" recreation of the 68 Comeback Special. As he sits down with the band, armed with nothing but a guitar and his tremendous voice, Paul will dazzle you with music such as the "Heartbreak Hotel Medley" and "Memories". And yes, we know what you're thinking: Paul WILL be doing all this wearing the striking black leather suit!
After a short intermission, Paul will instantly bring you back to Elvis' career's most exciting period: the 1970-1975 Vegas and "On Tour" years. This very comprehensive set will delight you as Paul, jumpsuited and in full form, sings the songs you love such as "Burning Love", "Hurt", "Polk Salad Annie" and "Suspicious Minds" among so many others.
As you hear the strains of "2001/Also Sprach Zarathustra", Elvis' concert theme song, you will know exactly what comes next: now is the time for Marcus to move and thrill you with his recreation of Elvis' last concert in 1977. Clad in a replica of Elvis' "Sundial" suit
, Marcus will recreate Elvis' final performance before his untimely death, with such songs as "See See Rider", "Way Down", "Unchained Melody" and "My Way".
As the emotional 1977 set comes to an end... Paul and Marcus reunite on stage one last time to sing one of Elvis' most meaningful, most beautiful songs before the curtain falls.
Paul Ross
Paul Ross is a born vocalist, musician and performer. He discovered Elvis as a young boy 15 or so years ago, going through his parent's record collection. Having formed a band in his early twenties, Paul soon found himself increasingly drawn to Elvis' music. After trying to throw in one or two Elvis songs during his band concerts, Paul was regularly told by audience members that he "sounded just like Elvis". The next logical step was to equip himself with the obligatory jumpsuits and give it a try! After only six months of performing semi-regularly as an Elvis tribute artist, Paul entered the world-renowned Elvis Fest contest in Collingwood, Ontario, and, to his great surprise, won the non-pro title against seasoned performers! From that point on, Paul's reputation spread like wildfire as he criss-crossed Canada and the US doing concerts and winning or placing in several more contests. His latest achievement was the 2003 provincial pro champion title at Brantford's Elvis Fest and a very honorable 3rd place in the pro category at Collingwood 2003.
When he is not on tour or on stage, Paul lives in Toronto, works in sales and enjoys a life where music - particularly Elvis music - plays the most important part.
Marcus Wells
Marcus Wells, who Paul likes to describe as his "little big brother", got an early start on loving Elvis. As a young boy, fascinated by the fast cars, cool outfits and pretty girls, Marcus LOVED staying home from school, every once in a while, to catch a great Elvis movie in the afternoon. In 1977, at the age of twelve, he was deeply marked by Elvis' death. A clasically-trained violinist and a great music lover, Marcus started writing music and performing in the late 70s and early to mid-80s. In the wake of the 50s revival which occurred in the 80s (think "Stray Cats"), Marcus felt quite comfortable adopting an on-stage persona inspired by the "movie Elvis" of his childhood. After a few years' hiatus, Marcus returned to the stage in 2000 and felt that becoming a full-fledged Elvis entertainer seemed like the natural thing to do. After a 2 1/2 year stint with Joan Minnery's Memphis Motion as their full-time Elvis, which proved to be beneficial as much for the stage experience as for the friendships formed, Marcus started a solo career centered around what he feels is amongst Elvis' most poignant performances: his 1977 "Sundial" tour in the last months of his life. Marcus has now taken his show (solo and with Double Trouble), throughout Canada and the US. Marcus was recognized as provincial non-pro Grand Champion at Brantford's Elvis Fest in 2002, placed in the top 6 non-pro in Collingwood the same year and, in 2003, placed 4th in the pro category and grabbed the "People's Choice" title at Brantford's Elvis Fest. Finally, Marcus became Canadian Grand Champion, non pro, Vegas years, at Collingwood 2004!
Marcus also lives in Toronto, works as a translator, is married to Victoria since June 2000 and has a little son, Thomas, now a little over two years old, who gives every indication he will one day follow in his dad's white-booted footsteps. Indeed, Tommy loves Elvis music and started making tiny Elvis moves before he could even walk!
